Privacy Policy

Swing ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Swing app. We offer the Swing mobile application ("App") and related websites ("Services") on a freemium basis. Your privacy is important to us. This notice explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account & Contact

Name, email, Apple ID / Google ID, authentication tokens — to create and secure your account; respond to support requests.

Profile & Content

Photos, bio, chats, likes, matches — to provide core dating features; enable content moderation.

Location

GPS, coarse network location — to show nearby profiles; power Travel & Global Search features.

Purchase & Usage

In-app purchases, subscription status, feature interactions, crash reports — to fulfil transactions; improve features; fix bugs.

Device & Log

IP address, device model, OS version, error logs, cookies — for security, fraud-prevention, diagnostics.

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes above or to comply with legal obligations.

2. Third-Party Providers

We share only the data required to operate the Service. Each provider is contractually bound to keep data confidential and secure.

  • Google Analytics for Firebase — analytics and performance
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash reporting
  • AppMetrica — analytics and performance
  • Apple In-App Purchases — payment processing

3. How We Collect, Use and Share Information (New Zealand)

  • We collect personal information only for lawful purposes connected with providing Swing, and only where that information is necessary for those purposes.
  • We tell you why we are collecting your information, how it will be used, and who it may be shared with.
  • We use and disclose personal information only for the purpose it was collected, for directly related purposes, with your authorisation, or where otherwise permitted or required by law.
  • We take reasonable steps to keep personal information accurate, secure, and retained only for as long as necessary.
  • You may request access to, and correction of, your personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

4. Your Rights

You may request access to, and correction of, your personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. To make a request, email support [at] swing [dot] nz and we will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.

5. Account Deletion & Data Retention

You can delete your account at any time from the App menu. Upon deletion, your profile, photos, matches, and chat history are removed immediately. We retain your email address and minimal technical data (such as transaction records) for up to 6 months for fraud prevention and legal compliance, after which it is permanently erased. If you wish to have all data removed sooner, email support [at] swing [dot] nz and we will process your request within 30 days.

6. Cookies & Similar Technologies

The App itself does not set cookies, but our website and third-party SDKs may. You can refuse cookies in your browser or device settings; some features may not function without them.

7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and encryption at rest where supported by our service providers. We also use access controls, secure authentication practices, and least-privilege permissions where appropriate. While no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your personal information.

8. Data Transfers

Your information may be processed on servers outside your country. When transferring data outside the EEA/UK, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful safeguards.

9. Age Limit

Swing is strictly for users 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this notice from time to time. The latest version will always be available at swing.nz/privacy. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
